Networks Matter
From our September 2025 newsletter, this post covers our Thru-Hiker promotion process and our new endeavor to help managers identify internal trainers.
Some exciting updates to share, including an invitation to weigh in on something new we’ve been exploring.
Our Promotion Process for Thru-Hikers
When Participants complete our Advisor-supported program, they become Thru-Hikers.
But behind that title is a whole process designed to help them succeed.

We’re intentional about two things:
- Helping people build a foundation of knowledge in their chosen career path
- Connecting them with professionals already in the industry
Typically 80% of applicants who land interviews have a connection at the company or in the industry.
That’s why from day one, Participants are matched with an Expert Advisor (an industry veteran with a strong network). As they progress, we shape a plan to promote them.
And when they finish, they enter our multi-step promotion path designed to highlight their strengths and broadcast their capabilities to the right professionals.
It means when our folks complete the program, they’re visible, recognized, and ready for their next big step.
Small Threads Together Make a Stronger Rope
Celebrating Thru-Hikers got us thinking about employees already in organizations and how we can help them.
From our work with managers, we’ve seen the challenges firsthand: they’re stretched thin, their teams are under-resourced, and when it comes to building knowledge, companies often turn to outside consultants or expensive external programs. Yet the expertise already exists inside the organization. There’s just no clear way to identify and grow the people who can share it.
Staying with our hiking theme, CORDAGE is our response. Like rope, it’s about weaving threads into something stronger: spotting employees with the right attributes, giving them hands-on practice, and supporting them with ongoing coaching.
We’re still in the early stages, refining the approach and exploring if it resonates with the real challenges managers are facing – we have learned a ton so far.
Asking for a Favor
We’re looking to chat with folks in HR, L&D, or Enablement for a short 15-minute conversation.
I promise these are not sales calls. We’re genuinely curious about how your team handles training and facilitation (what’s working, what’s not), and whether this direction makes sense from where you sit.
If you’re open to a quick conversation – or know someone who might be – please email me at jason-at-gimmecredit.co I’d be grateful to learn from your perspective.
Thank you for being a valued part of the GimmeCredit community.
Best regards,
The GimmeCredit Team
